This website has been designed to meet the needs of the Holders Sponsorship Agreement (SAHs), its constituent groups, groups of five and community sponsors who are sponsoring or considering sponsoring refugees in Canada. A Holder Sponsorship Agreement (SAH) is an organization that has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Government of Canada, represented by Canada`s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, which allows it to participate in the resettlement of refugees through the Private Sponsorship of Refugees program. All refugee sponsorship applications are available on the IRCC website at www.cic.gc.ca. Promoting a more refugee-friendly society in Canada The Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program is a partnership program managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Canadian people to increase Canada`s capacity to resettle foreign refugees. Sponsorship agreement promoters and their constituents, community sponsors and groups of five may sponsor refugees. On March 30, 2020, we updated the application process for sponsorship contract holders. You have until 30 June 2020 to submit an application. As part of the Church`s sponsorship agreement, the United Church collaborates with pastoral communities/associations that form a constituent group (GC) to sponsor refugees. IRCC sometimes works with organizations to resettle refugees with special needs. Refugees with special needs may need more help than other refugees to settle in Canada.
The Joint Assistance Sponsorship Program is aimed at the most vulnerable refugees. Depending on the case, refugees receive up to 24 months of assistance from the government and a private sponsor. In a few cases, the private sponsor can support for up to 36 months. JAS refugees receive income assistance from the Canadian government for food, shelter, clothing and basic household items. You can also work with other groups in the community to sponsor refugees as part of your agreement. In doing so, you remain responsible for the emotional and financial support of the refugee(s). These groups are called “constituent groups”. When an organization signs a sponsorship agreement, it assumes the legal responsibilities listed in the sponsorship agreement. . .
